This complex region spans a width of 6.5 degrees, and covers from the center of Onion's Belt to the right, to the river of red nebulosity to the left know as Barnards Loop. Additional details include the Flame nebula above zeta Orionis, and IC434 below which contains the famous Horsehead Nebula. At the very top of the frame is M78 a reflection nebula. The two deep blue artifacts on the left of the frame are from ghost images of the two belt stars on the right of the frame, reflected internally in the schmidt camera by the corrector plate.
