Here is another quick test shot to determine feasibility of using the new Hutech XTi with the SV80s for the primary instrument up at Happy Jack at our Clear Creek Canyon Observatory. The focus is way off on this shot, and I didn't get any core exposures to fill in the center, however this shot does show that the blues and reds are very effectively recorded with the camera. The noise level compared to my old 10D is ridiculously low. In fact, no dark frames were subtracted from this set.

Despite our brightening skies in Payson, I am satisfied that this camera will be an excellent addition to core instruments up at our second observatory, and we will proceed with our plans to get a deep series of images from that location at the next opportunity!

Processing note

A new trick I tried here was to make a layer mask out of a negative of the image itself to apply noise reduction to the sky and dim areas for the most part.
