Comet Neowise F3
in the morning sky
July 3, 2020

This bright comet is at perihelion today and has for the first time emerged from behind the Sun into the morning sky. Battling monsoon clouds until the very end, I was able to shoot the comet in a narrow clearing in the cloud deck this morning, with a twilight so bright I could only go 0.5 seconds maximum without over exposure. Yet here is the zero magnitude comet visible against the tremendous sky glow only a few degrees over the north eastern horizon. We are a week away from the peak altitude in the morning before it goes into the evening sky and will fade very fast.
