Spiral Galaxy in Draco

Uploaded 6/11/02

The easternmost of a chain of three bright galaxies in the Dragon, and by far the most interesting. This 11.9 magnitude spiral is classed Sb, and displays a prominent yellow core surrounded by bluish white luminous arms. Few HII regions are seen, being at the 2 arcsecond size and smaller limit. There is an anonymous 16th magnitude galaxy on the right side of the field. Also note the "plumes" extending downward from the lower spiral arm.
