IC410

Emission Nebula in Auriga

Uploaded 11/17/02

This large and complex object is associated with the splashy open cluster on the left half of the field known as NGC1893, a 7.5 magnitude class II3rn type. IC410 is the huge nebulous object covering the field, well over the specified 1/4 degree in size. Composition was absolutely critical on this image. With the dark nebula centered, the bright crimson colored ridge off to the right was included full of scalloped detail. The cluster itself, a true gem in the sky is to its left with a half dozen brilliant gems strewn across its face. Below center is another dark nebula, irregular in outline. The prize attraction of this field however, is the two cometary shaped nebula to the upper left. Both show bow shocks from fierce stellar winds from the open cluster and long sinuous tails.
