These images of the southern sky were taken by photographer Paul Tierney and are the first astro images taken with his new Canon digital Rebel DSLR. He also processed these images himself, something he had little experience in until now. (With a little coaching from a nearby friend) Paul not only composed each shot, he also carfully focused the lens during the daytime and marked the infinity position to use that night. This ensured sharp images of the stars in the night sky.

I am proud of his work presented here, and wish him every bit of encouragement I can offer that he continue to perfect his new found skills as a budding astrophotographer!
