Bathroom Towel Ring Project

A big 3 part project including the twisted ring, base, and mounting plate. This is to replace the broken ring currently in the downstairs bathroom. It works beautifully and is just the right size. This was the first attempt at using "Stronghero Gold Silk" PLA filament. It takes a higher temperature to print, since it was much too thick to print at normal 195C temps. I finally settled on 210C and it flowed great. This plastic is a lot more brittle than normal PLA, and one has to be careful with tiny parts.

 Solid works drawing of just the ring. This was actually pretty easy to draw, a hexagon was rotated along a circular path to create the twisted shape.

 The base holds the ring away from the wall and is stylized with a star in the center for an astronomical theme.
 Wall mount is a block with the correct outside angles to fit inside the base and allows the base to mount to the wall with two screws under the base and hidden from view.
 A rather optomistic rendering of the finished ring in solid 24 carat gold. The gold PLA will not be even close to this, but will indeed have a nice silky sheen that is golden in color.
 Prototype print using a hiddeous green color. The original chromed brass base from the old towel ring is also seen. The print proved I could make such a thing and this version was put in the observatory to hang plastic telescope covers from when using the 10 inch.
 Final installed towel ring. The gold sheen is seen well here, and the star shows up well too.
 With towel "installed" ready for action!
